I lived in Colorado for 6 years, during which I would go up in the mountains in early fall for mushroom hunting. Pine mushrooms, Porcini, etc....
I would get up at 4am, hit the road by 4:30am, drove an hour, and climbed 15 minutes to my usual patch before the deers and other animals showed up for their breakfast. All this before going to work!.
The idea of self-sufficiency must have started in my mind back then. Every place has its own treasure.

Thank you for still remembering Colorado!
Matsutake mushrooms you gave me were so good...
It was so much fun hunting mushrooms! I still think about the time I spent in the mountains when August approaches....
Hi there,
I had a little garden when I lived in Denver. I got carrots, green beans, lettuce, etc. much more than I could eat. I miss growing my own veges… I live in a townhouse with no yard now but I go to a farmers’ market every Sunday. Veges taste soooo good and I can support local farmers.
Ps – I got a job and my cubicle days will start from tomorrow :'( Maybe, just work hard for a couple of more years and shoot for an early retirement??? What do you do for living (if you don’t mind me asking)?
Aiko-san,
Glad you found a job! I do translation mostly. I'm in between projects right now. Probably bbecause of the summer. Luckily I have so much to do in the yard, enjoying the weather...
